Every ship needs a home port. Even when a vessel has met its end and rests forever at the bottom of the sea, it still needs a place to call home. LostShipwrecks is dedicated to the memory of ships that no longer sail or steam their way across the northern seas, but instead lie sleeping in the icy darkness of Alaska’s oceans.

The information you will find here is highly specialized and subjective, because it reflects only the shipwrecks and other topics that interest me. In the years that I have been researching Alaska’s maritime history in general—and Alaska shipwrecks in particular—I have uncovered a great deal of material that I feel should be consolidated in one place. To the extent that this material is not restricted by copyright, I hope to centralize many of the archival photographs, articles, and other records that I think will be of interest to like-minded researchers. I will also post some of my own articles and other work from time to time.

Feel free to explore, read, wander and wonder through these pages—Bon voyage!
